SmartSeal is an intelligent device that control access to fuel tanks. Operates in conjunction with the Supervisor or SmartConsole, performing the following functions:

• Unlocking Lids (to allow opening);
• Locking Lids;
• Monitoring the lid state and alarms;
• Communication with Smart Console;
• Reporting the events;
• Monitoring the sensors position, locking, violation, batteries, power supply, etc.

The lid performs the whole process of unlocking and locking, signaling any anomalies to the system that are affecting the control (Supervisor or Console). All operations on the lid are registered in memory. This information can be accessed at any time by the Supervisor (or Console) or even by the Monitoring System.

In normal operation, all lids are continuously in polling; this operation is interrupted only when an unlocking or locking operation should be performed. In this case, the Supervisor sends to the Seal a respective command.

The Smart Seal, for being in a network, are continuously interrogated by Supervisor. For each polling, the lid report their respective status and conditions of their alarms. The Supervisor evaluates these conditions, taking actions that are programmed.

Conceptually, the lid, the Supervisor and the consoles operate in a distributed processing system in order to maintain a relative independence between them. The Status information and alarm that are continuously collected by Supervisor. The lid also stores internally a series of statistical information and configurations that can be accessed and modified remotely. This information resulting from the internal processing of Smart Seal and contain information such as:

• Total opening made;
• Totalizers opening time exceeded;
• Totalizers normal opening time;
• Total failures in the lock;
• Etc.
